The immediate answer to this question may be “no”, however Depression has varying degrees from mild and temporary to severe. Most episodes of “depression” experienced by the average person are normal responses of sadness that have been caused by lack of sleep, stress, or malnourishment. The response of the brain to addictive medication is something that translates as depression. Based on severity of depression, medication treatment may be needed.

However, extreme “fits” of depression or elongated emotions parallel with depression can be serious and life threatening if not monitored, counseled, and treated.
